As a Massage Therapist, you play an important role in boosting the health and well-being of your clients. Students in this 500-hour course are trained to perform bodywork skills with excellence, grace, sensitivity and ease. The program emphasizes a combination of strength, flexibility and fluidity in the body along with creativity, intuitiveness and receptivity in the mind and blends training in therapeutic massage techniques with supportive activities such as corrective exercise and movement, understanding the client/practitioner relationship, relaxation techniques, and knowledge of the structures and functions of the body.
This course teaches you the fundamentals to become a successful massage therapist. You will learn Swedish and Deep Tissue massage techniques, reflexology, sports massage, anatomy and physiology, chair massage, and special techniques. You will also learn the business skills essential to starting your own massage therapy practice.
This program lasts a total of 6 months.
Graduates may find employment in health related settings such as chiropractic offices, wellness centers, retirement communities, long-term care facilities, and corporate wellness programs. Health clubs, day-spas, beauty salons, hotels and resorts also hire professional massage therapists. Many massage therapist work as self-employed practitioners in a professional setting
